Thank you for reading this special and unique post! As you all know, I started this blog page, thelifebyaustin™️, during this period of quarantine as a way to share not only what I’ve learned in my personal life, but also to show an appreciation I have for writing.
Since June, I’ve gone back to work in the front lines as a grocery and produce expert at Target, stocking groceries, working the registers, and fulfilling fresh produce dairy and deli orders around the clock, all while taking precautions. Target is, by far, the only place that I would rather be at during this hard time of COVID-19.
We get a lot of customers stopping by Target daily to shop for their essential needs, whether it be room decorations, clothes, electronic devices, or even groceries. In summary, employees like me have definitely been risking our lives to serve the community we admire the most. However, some of the people that have stumbled upon my registers have been some of the most unique people that I have yet to recognize, because they have put their entire life on the line to care for these patients and see people plummet into “sudden death.”
Some of the customers that have gone through my lane are nurses; they are first responders and healthcare workers. Matter of fact, some of them have worked around the clock to care for patients who have tested positive for the virus. They look stressed and exhausted, and I can see it from their eyes and their face marks from wearing an extensive amount of PPE (personal protection equipment) while caring for these COVID-19 patients, none of which these excruciating times of pain cannot be compared to those of grocery workers like me.
We live too comfortably, and we don’t think sufficiently about the sacrifice our first responders are trying, to save lives. I cannot understand the pain they are going through, but I can think of ways to help. This is why I’m giving back to the medical community this summer. I realize it may not be easy at first, but here are some funds that you can donate to on your own!
(In addition, thelifebyaustin™️ is now OPEN to accepting donations! These will be open until the end of the year, on 12/31/2020. Any amount is appreciated and will be sent to the hospital of your choice!
